TWINS Workshop: Storytelling from Different Perspectives
with Shannon Stott and Quinn Buckner
Sunday, October 7, 3-5:30 pm

Each and every story is unique. We as improvisers often default to the majority perspective when telling stories and in doing so other voices get overlooked or even squashed. Knowing how to check in with our partners or the audience and ask for help in circumstances where we feel disconnected from their unique experience, can give the improvisers along with the audience members a deeper, surprising, more fleshed out experience of the created world. As an application of the work done in the show “It’s Ok to Laugh” by the duo Twins (www.twinsimprov.com), this workshop helps to develop tools and more importantly start conversations to take the focus off general, often white, perspectives in order to empower the muted experience of marginalized people.

Shannon Stott is an improv badass. She has taught and performed improv nationally and internationally for over ten years and brings her award-winning style of improv to the duo TWINS. Her command of the stage, dynamic character work and pure love of the art form will bring you so so much joy to be watching her and that’s all she wants… to bring you joy, through improv!

Quinn Buckner is an improv base to a cheer squad pyramid. He has taught and performed improv nationally and internationally for almost ten years and brings his basically award-winning style of improv to the duo TWINS. He delights in the mischief and discovery on stage. Infused with awareness and physicality he aims to give you one thing… joy, through improv!
