Status Workshop

Status Work in Improvisation
with Tyler Lane
Sunday, August 7, 2-4pm

Behind every interaction onstage is an expression of status, whether it be conscious or subconscious. In our improv (or in life) it is not a mater of if we have status interactions but rather whether we choose to be aware of them or not.

Having an awareness of status in our improv allows for more authentic and intrinsically compelling relationships onstage. It provides for us a new dimension of insight into our behaviors and motivations, gives us a new language with our scene partners and informs ideal procedure when interacting with audience members.

In this workshop we will explore status both intellectually as an observer, and how it feels as a participant.

Tyler Lane is a frequent director and performer in Maestro, as well as a member of silent troupe Golden and narrative troupe Channel 2, both of which are in this year’s Out of Bounds Comedy festival. He’s taken classes at the Hideout, Merlin Works and is currently enrolled in ColdTowne’s Advanced Studies program.

$19 / two hours total / Limited Space / Class is held at the brand new Hideout Studios at 2505 E 6th St, Unit 3C
