Improv ala UCB

A UCB Approach to Scenework and “Game”
with Susan Pickover
Wednesday, July 10, 7-9pm

In this workshop we will ask and answer the age-old questions: What is the game of the scene? How do we create/recognize game and how do we heighten game? We will take a deep dive into our scenework and how to truly play with the information put forth in the first few lines of a scene. This workshop will be a crash course on listening, “Yes Anding” and heightening with a scene partner. We will focus on the one funny or interesting thing we discover by gifting ourselves and our scene partners with strong and daring scene starts.

Susan Pickover was first introduced to long form improv at The Upright Citizen’s Brigade in New York City over 12 years ago. She went on to train and perform mainly at the UCB and The Magnet Theater. Susan went on to co-create and performed in NY’s first musical Harold team VEAL as well as perform on multiple house and indie teams. After moving to Austin she was thrilled to become a teacher, coach and performer in the AIC. You can take a regular or singing improv class with Susan at Merlin Works Theater or book her to coach your team.
