Every Tuesday night the Austin Improv Co-op hosts an improv jam at the Hideout Theatre. The
jam consists of a rehearsal and an informal performance and runs from 7:00pm to 10:00pm in the upstairs classroom and
theater. It is free and open to anyone looking for a little improv, so tell your friends about it.
The Hideout Theatre is located at 617 Congress Ave. downtown. www.hideouttheatre.com We
owe a big <> to the "Heroes of Comedy" for letting us share
their space!
Suggested schedule:
7:00-7:15 -- Intros/ name games/ structured warm-ups
7:15-7:40 -- Organic warm-ups
7:40-8:45 -- Exercises/ drills/ scene work
8:45-8:55 -- Break
8:55-9:00 -- Focus/ warmup/ good vibe activity [Something to lead into
the performance]
9:00-10:00 -- Show time [Lately we've been playing around with an
"out-of-the-hat" format as a way to keep this part of the night
uninterrupted (except for needed setups).]
10:00 -- Closing [The group may want to head to a bar for notes, or
individuals can bring concerns/ideas to the next week's workout.]
I have been bringing a couple of improv books and game descriptions to
help keep the jam fun and fresh. If you have ideas and resources you
want to share, please bring them. You may also want to bring some water
and/or some cash to buy stuff from the cafe'.
