Every Saturday at 8:00pm five of Austin's finest improvisers strap on their army boots and go to war for the improv they love.
Six master improvisers face off in a battle of improv genius. Taking turns in the director's chair, they each try to make inspiring improv happen for you the audience. Watch as they fight for the scenes they believe in and the games they adore! If they fail, you punish them. If they succeed, you reward them with a week with the Hideout's lovable resident gorilla. Come find out who gets quality time with the monkey and who will write "LOSER" in permanent marker on their forehead (or do the dance of shame, or call their mother and apologize for being a bad director, etc.)
Tne fate of improv comedy hangs in the balance every Saturday night at the Hideout Theatre.
HEROES OF COMEDY is the resident improv comedy troupe at The Hideout Theatre in downtown Austin. Their work is based on the work of Canadian improv guru Keith Johnstone who invented Theatresports and Gorilla to make theatre as exciting as a sporting event. Gorilla players include Shana Merlin of Girls Girls Girls, Jeremy Lamb of The Available Cupholders, Craig Kotfas of The Knuckleball Now, Ted Rutherford of The Foolish Mortals and other giants of Austin Improv.
