Auditions for Upcoming Shows will be Wed., Nov. 11th at 7PM

The Hideout Theatre will be holding auditions for upcoming runs of This Week Tonight and Austin Secrets on Wednesday, November 11th from 7 to 9pm. Those interested in auditioning should arrive at 7PM sharp ready to improvise. No other preparation is necessary. Please email me at roy@hideouttheatre.com to let me know you are coming.
A description of the shows we’re casting follows…

promotional copy:

Every Friday at 8pm, five of Austin’s distinguished and comical improvisers tackle the events of the week, spinning headlines and audience suggestions into powerful theatre and improv comedy gold.

One part Daily Show, one part Saturday Night Live back when it was awesome, and all kick-ass improv at the Hideout, This Week Tonight investigates the latent humor in this crazy mixed up modern world through scenes, games and anything else that can legally happen on a stage.

show format:

This Week Tonight features 5 improvisers taking turns directing each other in scenes based off news stories. An editor hosts and runs the show, and decides whether to “print” or “dump” each scenes. Improvisers whose scenes are dumped perform “special assignments” (aka punishments) assigned by the editor. All of this is in good fun.

Austin Secrets is a new Hideout Mainstage show, on Saturdays at 8PM in January and February. Inspired by projects such as PostSecret, StoryCorps, Found Magazine, and Mortified!, Austin Secrets will be an improvisational exploration of the secrets that define who we are, and the amazing stories of everyday lives.

Austin Secrets will be an equal blend of comedy and drama, showing proper respect for serious secrets, and delightfully playing with frivolous secrets. The show will be a good opportunity to stretch yourself in terms of the type of characters and scenes you are creating.

Again, if you are interested in auditioning, please email me at roy@hideouttheatre.com.
