Getting to Know the Marathoners: Cat Drago

This is the fifth in a series of blog posts about each this weekend’s marathoners.  Don’t know what the marathon is? Find out here!

Cat Drago started improv at the Hideout Theatre four years ago and since then she has done shows such as RISEN, Kenjutsu, Nothing and Everything, and the upcoming Disney-style improvised musical, Happily Ever After. She also is accident prone and is experimenting with paleo dessert making without much success. Cat is so excited to be in the Marathon this year, and is particularly excited about raising money for the children’s program because of all the amazing work they are doing for kids with Autism, homeless and displaced kids and families, and kids who need to boost their confidence and have fun!

Why did you want to be involved in the marathon?

The first improv show I ever saw was the 42 hour marathon and it was incredible. So awesome, I kept feeding my meter for like 21 hours to keep watching. I’ve wanted to do it ever since, just to be part of that magic. Plus the whole thing is a worthy cause, so that’s even better.

What excites you most about doing the marathon?

I am most excited about playing all these amazing formats with all these incredibly talented people.

What scares you most about doing the marathon?

I’m scared I’ll totally suck!

Which format are you most excited about?

I’m obsessed with Star Trek. I have my own uniform, go to comic cons, I have a Trek tattoo, the whole nine yards… so playing in Start Trekkin is a bucket list item for me.

What’s the longest you’ve ever stayed awake?

Well ever since the 42 hour marathon, I’ve been watching the whole marathon every year, so I guess it would be around 55 hours or so? Since I watched the marathon last year, was awake that whole day before… oh and a bunch of us went to Dog & Duck (RIP) afterwards for a couple of pints. So yeah, I would guess at least 55 hours last year.

What’s your dumb comfort item you’ll be bringing with you?

It’s totally dumb, but there’s this one shirt that I’ve worn to every marathon since I’ve started. I have pictures of me sleep deprived, watching the stage all bleary-eyed in that shirt for the last four years, so yeah, that shirt is gonna have to work it’s way into my wardrobe somehow.

What’s your pump up song?

Sia’s Chandelier is my JAM right now.
