Stephen Kearin Workshops

Stephen Kearin (of 3 For All, Impro Theatre, and the creator of the language spoken in the Sims video games) is in town for the Improvised Play Festival, so we’re making the most of his visit and offering three top notch, game-changing workshops. If you’ve seen 3 For All in one of their past visits to Austin, you know they do unparalleled storytelling improv with fully realized characters and thrilling stage effects.

Three workshop options to match your interests:

DOUBLE DOWN!
Developing and sustaining characters with Stephen Kearin
Deep and committed character work is the essence of improvisation. When we “double down” in a scene, it invites an energy to the stage that is undeniable. Come explore the depths and see what you find.
10am-noon on Saturday, April 12, $40
**MASTER CLASS** This workshop is limited to improvisers with five or more years of stage experience.
This class is SOLD OUT, but we’re opening up a handful of auditing slots. You’re invited to observe the class from the back of the audience and take notes.

SEE IT & HEAR IT
Space Objects and Sound Effects with Stephen Kearin
Explore the fundamentals of Space Object awareness and learn to access the “Hidden Dimension” of improvisation. Go beyond words and deeper into the work. And then unleash your inner machine gun with this introduction to the world of improvised sound effects. Come explore what you already know how to do.
1-4pm on Saturday, April 12, $55
**OPEN CLASS** This workshop is open to all experience levels.

TOUCHING THE STONE
Identifying and exploring First Offers with Stephen Kearin
The very first offers in a scene can offer a shelter from the storm of ideas that overtake us as improvisers. Let “Learn To Return” become a valuable mantra and help you to travel lighter in your work.
1-4pm on Sunday, April 13, $55
**INTERMEDIATE CLASS** This workshop is limited to improvisers who have graduated from an improv training center (Hideout or elsewhere).
