Ready Player One: Intro to Improv Tech with Lindsey McGowen

Ready to get your tech ninjutsu on? Come learn how to build worlds for the stage improvisors to inhabit and heighten and support from the booth through an engaging mix of theory, games and exercises. We will cover lights, scoring and sound effects use and the various tools of the trade. Recommended for anyone with an interest in technical improv, regardless of level of experience.

Lindsey McGowen has a BA in Technical Theater from Case Western Reserve University, and after moving to Austin from Detroit in early 2014, she quickly made herself a go-to person for technical theater needs in the area. In addition to working on Hideout mainstages such as The International Improv Experience, Nothing & Everything, Wanderlust and Austin Secrets, she was also the sound improviser and stage manager for the 2014 B. Iden Payne Award-winning show Hurly Burly at the Institution Theater. Outside of improv, Lindsey is a nationally touring teacher and performer in the contemporary a cappella community.
