The Hideout Theatre’s 2014-15 Award Winning Production of “Nothing and Everything: Improvised Anton Chekhov Plays”

The Advanced Narrative Intensive is your chance to spend five days (30 hours) getting into the nitty gritty of improvising full length stories, plays and movies. The Hideout is one of the worlds most active theaters in the field of narrative improvisation (home of the internationally touring Parallelogramophonograph) and we’d love to show you some next level ideas and philosophies for doing this kind of work.

Instructors include Andy Crouch, Roy Janik, Jon Bolden, Kareem Badr, Kaci Beeler, Jessica Arjet, Courtney Hopkin, Quinn Buckner and more.

*Because the advanced narrative intensive is recommended for improvisers with at least a year of narrative training or over five years of general improv experience, we ask that you fill out the form at the top of this page in order to register. Once we confirm that you have the requisite experience, we’ll be in touch with a link you can use to make payment and get officially registered for the intensive. For improvisers who aren’t sure if the Advanced Narrative intensive is the right fit, we’re also offering our Signature Summer Intensive that same weekend – check out that page here.

Inside and outside of class the teaching staff genuinely connected with and supported every student.

Performance Opportunities:

In addition to the 30 hours of class time during the day, Thursday through Sunday will offer opportunities to see and perform in shows (including a dedicated showcase).

Social Events:

We’ll be setting up multiple options for students to socialize outside of the workshop, including a barbecue lunch (with award winning Texas barbecue) a trip to Barton Springs, and an Austin Improv Happy Hour with improvisers from all over town.

Out of Town Improvisers!!!

If you’re not from Austin, WE WANT YOU! We’ll make every effort to make this a fantastic and manageable improv vacation to one of the friendliest cities in the world. Expect top notch hospitality, including fun times and a tour of the town, and if you need we can probably hook you up with housing with a friendly local improviser. And there is also a convenient and relatively inexpensive Firehouse Hostel just one block away from the Hideout Theatre.

30 hours of improv over the course of the week will be a bigger boost to your confidence and skill than 60 hours spread over months.
